About Spring Lake Township<\/h2>\n

Summary<\/h3>\n

Spring Lake Township is located in the outer, southern ring of the Twin Cities metropolitan area in Scott County, Minnesota. It is located between Sand Creek Township to the west and Credit River Township to the east, and the City of Prior Lake to the north. Helena, Cedar Lake and New Market Townships lay to the south. Although it possesses a good deal of modern, single family housing districts, it remains an essentially rural area.<\/p>\n

Before 1960, Spring Lake Township was all about farming. But a housing boom in the 1960s and 70s created what is now nearly 40% of it’s housing stock. Another 31% was built between 1990 and 2009. Thirty-two percent of the current housing stock is valued at over $400,000. The entire township is zoned “Rural Residential Single Family” or “Rural Residential Reserve.” There is no rental housing available in the Township.<\/p>\n

As of\u00a0 2019 there were 1,467 housing units. Spread over 258.5 sq. miles, Spring Lake is the second, least-dense township in the greater area (at 53 units per sq. mile).<\/p>\n
